Section B - The US Public TV stations:

Doctor Who Series 2 is a go! Available from April 1, 2008. Enough public TV stations have signed on to air Series 2 and Doctor Who Confidential Cut Down Series 2. We do not have a list of stations yet. Stations that are 100% known to be airing Series 2 - KTEH 54 San Jose CA, WILL 12 Urbana IL, WTTW 11 Chicago IL, and UNC TV North Carolina.

As of this writing, 45 stations are known to have bought the 2005
series of Doctor Who (the 13 Christopher Eccleston episodes). Many of
the public TV stations have also gotten the Cut Down versions of
Doctor Who Confidential Series 1 (as seen on the DVD set). Stations
have the right to cycle through these episodes 4 times before
February 28, 2009. If you are happy that your station is airing
Doctor Who, write them a letter or send them an e-mail. (Maybe even
keep an eye out for a pledge drive.)

If Series 3 becomes available to public TV stations, it will be after
the episodes have aired on BBC America. BBC America airs Series 3
from January 26 to April 19 2008.

4 Public TV stations currently have rights to air the classic Doctor Who run (1963-1989). Iowa Public TV is currently airing both the new series and Peter Davison episodes. KBTC 28 Tacoma, WA, Maryland Public TV, and WCET 48 Cincinnati, OH are airing Tom Baker episodes while resting the new series.

One station has, to the best of our knowledge, used all their rights to the Series 1 package already - WLVT 39 Allentown, PA. They have aired cycled through all 13 episodes 4 times, which is the limit described in the package. If they air Series 1 again, then that means they re-bought the package or there is a misunderstanding about the meaning of cycling through the episodes 4 times. WILL 12 Urbana, IL, Iowa Public TV, and Idaho Public TV are currently on their 4th and presumably final cycle of Series 1 as well.
